Later today the Celtics will have another chance to clinch this year's NBA title by playing the Lakers at home. This morning, while I was in the office, I thought of the idea that if I were Doc River, how will I motivate my team knowing that we are only one win away from the ultimate title.
Since I've been engaging in running challenges with my brother and friends, I thought that my pre-game speech to my team will be something like this :
"Now, close your eyes and let's imagine this. You entered a long 400km marathon last year, and finally you start to see the goal. Though it's not clear but you know you are close. Another 20km gone by, finally it's only 4km away from the goal. However, you are deadly exhausted. Your body is tired and dehydrated, legs are sored and swollen, mind is not clear and needed oxygen. You can end this race by stop your legs, but this race doesn't happen all the time. It's a once in ten year race. The final 4 km looks difficult but it's nothing compare to the 400+km that you have come through. Now break it down, take it 1km at a time and start putting your focus at the goal rather than your sored legs. From this point on, the challenge is against yourself. It's your power of will. Can you top yourself?"
I am sure the Celtics will be so fired up when they hear my speech :D
